COVID-19 PPE Appeal for Hospitals in Staten Island

March 24, 2020

To our members of the Richmond County Dental Society:

As most of you are aware, there is a tremendous shortage of PPE available to the hospitals serving our communities, including Richmond University Medical Center and the Staten Island University Hospital.

The leadership of the Second District and Richmond County Dental Societies recognize that need and are going to do our best to help, but we need your participation. While arrangements are being set up for the hospitals in Brooklyn, we would ask that the membership of Richmond County Dental Society consider donating spare PPE from your private office to either of the two hospitals on Staten Island.

Should you wish to make your donation of PPE, including gloves or masks to Staten Island University Hospital, the Society has established a location where you can drop off the PPE with Society volunteers who will bring the donated materials to the hospital. The drop-off location is:

The St. Charles Church parking lot on the corner of Tysens Lane and Hylan Blvd. in Oakwood

Drs. Paul Albicocco and Charles Mistretta and will be coordinating activities at the St. Charles site this coming Thursday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon only.

Should you wish to donate unopened boxes of masks, gloves, gowns or any other form of PPE to Richmond University Medical Center, you can do so by contacting the Materials Management department by email at  jnegron@rumcsi.org or rsheran@rumcsi.org and they will make specific arrangements with you to drop off the materials at the Hospital’s loading dock. Please use the words “non-secure” in the subject line of your email.

We would kindly ask that whatever hospital you choose to donate to, you send Second District an email to info@sddsny.org to let us know what you donated, how much and to which institution it was it directed.

It is our hope that our membership continues to do everything they can during these very trying times to help the community we serve. Thanks again for all you do.
