Active Membership

The Second District Dental Society is a voluntary membership organization whose active members are licensed dentists in the State of New York and practice in the counties of Kings (Brooklyn) and Richmond (Staten Island). There are also membership categories for Associate Membership, Graduate Student/Resident Membership and Life Membership. Second District’s role is to represent and support the dentists of Brooklyn and Staten Island in their efforts to provide quality oral health care to the public within the ethical framework of organized dentistry.

The Second District Dental Society is your local affiliate of the American Dental Association, the largest and most influential professional association of dentists in the United States. 140,000 dentists strong! This is a little more than 70% of all the dentists nationwide. Dentists are impacted by issues and regulations not just locally, but at the state and national levels as well. The tripartite structure of organized dentistry is the most effective vehicle to support dentists’ interests at each level. The tripartite is mutually supportive. The structure promotes unity in the dental profession. It provides for a consistent approach and a unified voice on issues affecting the art and science of dentistry and the oral health of the general public.

To become an active member, a dentist must join his or her local society, state society, and the ADA. Each level within the tripartite sets its own dues, elects its own officers and directors, and makes decisions on the services and benefits it offers to members.

If you are interested in becoming an Active member in the Second District, please download and complete an Application for Membership and mail it to Second District headquarters.
