Second District Dental Society is the local component of the New York State Dental Association and the American Dental Association representing close to 1,500 member dentists in Brooklyn and Staten Island. It is our hope that this website provides our members with information that will aid them in making the most out of their membership. Additionally, we hope to provide the public with a source of information about our society and members to demonstrate our commitment to excellence and the preservation of oral health.

Governor Cuomo Announces Dentists Can Reopen Statewide on June 1

The good news we've been waiting for has finally arrived! After intense daily advocacy by NYSDA, including the invaluable participation in a grass-roots campaign by you, our members, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced, at 2:45 p.m. May 31, 2020, the approval of statewide opening of dental offices for regular dental care on June 1, 2020. Dentists' offices will be subject to state guidance on best practices for safety and social distancing.

NYSED Adjusts CE Requirements Due to COVID-19

Dentists whose licenses are due for renewal between March 1 and September 1, 2020 may complete up to 100% of their mandated CE hours as self-study courses. Read more
