SDDS Begins Its Inaugural Dental School Loan Forgiveness Program

In recognition of the increasingly troublesome dental school loan debt problem, the SDDS Board of Trustees has established a program to lighten the load for some deserving new dentists who have chosen to call Brooklyn or Staten Island their professional home. The loan forgiveness program will provide for several awards to new dentists in amounts up to $10,000. Read more>>

 

NYSDF Mandatory Opioid Prescribing Course Now Available Online

Recent changes to NYS Public Health Law now mandate that dentists in New York State with a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number must complete a course in opioid prescribing/pain management on or before July 1, 2017 AND every three years after that. Read more>> 

  

Drug and Alcohol Problems

Today, many of our patients are abusing a diverse assortment of drugs. Both patients and dentists can fall prey to addiction to alcohol, prescription drugs, and illegal drugs. Addiction can have a devastating impact on a dentist's ability to practice. Too many of our colleagues have lost their practices, their families and even their lives to addiction. Sadly, they often fail to seek help due to fear that others will learn their secret. Medicare Advantage Plan Reimbursement

Do you have patients over the age of 65 with dental insurance? To receive reimbursement from a Medicare Advantage Plan the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires you to enroll with Medicare as either a provider or ordering/referring provider. Read more>>

 

MetLife EFT Payments Notice

MetLife has re-issued letters advising that, "As of March 20, 2017, electronic funds transfer (EFT) will be our only method of provider reimbursement”. The letter further states that “You’ll be required to enroll in EFT on or before March 20, 2017." Read more>>
