Synopsis:
This course will allow participants to better understand the importance of a complete and accurate differential diagnosis. By understanding how to create a differential diagnosis, participants will avoid diagnostic pitfalls that can significantly impact patient outcomes. Upon discussion of differential diagnosis formulation, participants will actively apply what they have learned to several cases including cases of periapical radiolucencies, nodules of the lip, ulcers on the tongue and mass-type lesions. This application will introduce important concepts in these common clinical scenarios and solidify the importance of formulating a differential diagnosis.
The second half of the presentation will include case-based learning of interesting and/or rare pathologic cases from the speaker’s active clinical oral pathology practice, further cementing the concepts from the first half of the lecture. Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will better understand the importance of differential diagnosis, form better approaches to clinical and radiographic pathology and provide appropriate treatment and/or recommendations for common clinical scenarios.
