Synopsis:
Esthetic dentistry is a major driving force in our current environment. Individuals are enamored by the aesthetics of popular social figures and wish to emulate them in their appearance, including their smiles and teeth. The gingival unit is an important component in creating aesthetic harmony. Achieving and maintaining optimal aesthetics requires detailed treatment planning and, many times, a multidisciplinary approach. This course will provide attendees with an understanding of esthetic evaluation in relation to restorative treatment. It will focus on how periodontal surgical procedures such as subepithelial connective tissue grafts, aesthetic crown lengthening, ridge augmentation and immediate implants can enhance aesthetic restoration.
The presentation is clinically based with detailed instructions as to how to evaluate and complete these procedures. This will give attendees the information they need to achieve the most favorable outcomes. Upon successful completion of this course, attendees will:
- Understand the concepts of gingival harmony and the ability to visualize discrepancies.
- Be able to diagnose, treatment plan and execute aesthetic basic periodontal surgical procedures.
- Learn to identify fundamental restorative and surgical principles.
- Recognize potential pitfalls by not addressing the periodontium prior to restorative treatment.
- Gain the ability to discuss treatment options and expected results with the patient.
